Eclectic & Free
Never Boring, the Cappellini Collection Once
Again Captivates with Color and Form
Story by Debra Kronowitz
The magic of color and material; the magic of nature and technology; the
magic of the past and the future; the magic of sound and light; and the
magic of creation and experimentation this is the embodiment of the
2009 Cappellini Collection.
Keeping with its 40-plus years of tradition, the
2009 Cappellini Collection
captivates with its unique mix of cabinets, iconic chairs, tables and
stylish sofas. Cappellini draws on designers from different far-off
cultures, combining them in perfect harmony in a single collection that
replicates strong, timeless products that can be mixed and matched, with
no need to hide contradictions or stand alone as more than furniture,
but a piece of art. The attention to detail and technologies, obvious or
subtle, and the art is an expertise that goes into the workmanship are
clearly evident.
Giampiero Di Persia, CEO of luxury Italian furniture brand Poltrona Frau
Miami recently announced the launch of Cappellini Miami, which will open
adjacent to the Poltrona Frau showroom in October 2009. The Poltrona
Frau Group is the parent company of Poltrona Frau, Cappellini and other
highend Italian brands, including Alias and Cassina.
The spirit of the Cappellini brand is to create new contemporary
classics using various materials and colors that are solid, timeless
pieces, said Giulio Cappellini. |

Known for its use of color, stylish form
and innovative materials anything from plastic, wood, stainless-steel,
aluminum and leather the 2009 line features 15 new pieces by some of
the most recognized design giants including, Alessandro Mendini, Jasper
Morrison, Dror Benshetrit and Shiro Kuramata to name a few. New designer
Adam Goodrum joins the eclectic and world-renowned designers with his
Stitch chair.
Part of the collection revisits pieces dating back to 1960. For example,
the Proust Geometrica
armchair was originally created in 1978
for the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, Italy. Cappellini inherited the
piece in 1993, and today Proust
Geometrica, upholstered and
hand-finished according to tradition, preserves the forms of the
original armchair while refreshing them and breathing new life into the
image and value of the original design.
We worked with different designers from all over the world to mix and
match and create eclectic, innovative pieces that will create value for
the next 20 years or more, said Cappellini.
The 2009 collection features pieces by designers from Australia,
Germany, France, Japan, Israel, India, Italy, England, Netherlands,
Sweden and the United States of America.
