Possessions
Mario Velez's newest collection, Possessions, pinnacles the
artist's career. Although Velez's work has been distinguished
by highly simplified pictorial resources, austere shapes and a sober
space, it is in his work where all the visual and conceptual
elements achieve the highest expressive peak of all its orientation.
The new collection offers splendid colors, a declaration of faith in
the painting as a plane surface. The grid, with is graceful
and free finish, is the contemporary version of modernism. The
color is said to represent the ferocious side of the painting, its
irrationality.

The
Elementals
New Orleans artist Raine Bedslole's latest work, The Elementals,
represents man's attempt to explain and defy the natural elements of
earth, art, water and fire. These nature spirits make up a
great amount of folklore in ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Chinese,
Hebrew and the Japanese Shinto religions. Bedsole's female
silhouettes allow fo4r the possibility of human consciousness to
connect beyond the physical to understand the other realms and
dimensions of these ancient symbols.
